Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill said he was happy with two points from the contest against Punjab Kings in an IPL match. But he also admitted that the team didn’t want to take the match so deep.
After restricting PBKS to 163 for 9, GT reached 167 for 6 with a ball to spare. Gill spoke during the post-match presentation.
Gill on the chase: Didn’t want to take it so deep
“Would have liked to not take it as deep as we did. But two points! We always knew this is not the kind of wicket where we can chase it in 15-16 overs. If someone is set, they should go deep,” said Gill.
He explained that length balls weren’t coming easily. “Important for the batter who was set — lucky for us, Washy finished it off. It was all about the kind of situation we are in, and the best batter (on sending out…),” he added.
Hamaari Baat: GT ka aggressive approach kaam aaya
Shubman Gill ki baat saaf hai — woh chahte the ki match itna deep na jaaye, lekin do points se woh khush hain. GT ne PBKS ke against ek tight game jeeta, aur Gill ka confidence dikhta hai. Unka kehna hai ki wicket par 15-16 overs mein chase karna possible nahi tha, isliye set batter ko deep jaane ki zaroorat thi. Washington Sundar ne aakhir mein match finish kiya, jo GT ke liye ek positive sign hai. Hamari nazar mein, GT ki team spirit aur match awareness kaafi strong hai, aur Gill ki captaincy mein yeh jeet important hai.
